Bloggers = exhibitionists?
I met up with Max and Vincent at 1-Utama today. Vincent only spent an hour with us since he had to go off to Kuantan. Max kept pointing out my Aussie accent in Starbucks! The Aussie accent 'appears' when I'm talking to people who do not speak in Manglish; how bloody strange!

I feel a weird sort of apprehension about meeting other bloggers. Hehehe, I don't know why. It might be because when I meet them, I'll be thinking, oh damn, this person's read all about my stupidity, wackiness, madness, and everything synonymous. I mean, it's the slightest bit embarassing.

Okay, it's very embarassing. Hehe..

Is it weird of me? I came across a blog with the line 'bloggers are exhibitionists'. To which I say, so fucking what? Which pretentious bastard came up with that? Who isn't an exhibitionist anyway? It really should've been 'bloggers are more outstanding exhibitionists'. Even then, most of us, especially those hiding under a pseudonym wouldn't be able to beat those with 30 or more Friendster photos of themselves, whether they blog or not (not including owners of damn Friendster blogs).

But that doesn't mean all of us bloggers are comfortable with complete strangers reading our thoughts, stories of our lives. Which is why some of us write in metaphors, similes, random pieces of our thoughts that may not make sense to you, but makes perfect sense to us. For all you know, every blog entry of your favourite blogger has been a fabrication.

Bloggers are exhibitionists? Another generalisation that I object to.

As much as it sometimes irks me due to my mounting curiosity, I like blogs that completely conceal a person's identity and personality. They effectively divorce themselves of their emotional selves, and it's an admirable skill. Here's where I happily recommend Yuen Ai's blog to those of you who read blogs not to have a good laugh, or learn the newest fashion, but for the beauty of writing itself.

Hope you like her works. :)

Home at last. :)

Yes, I'm home. :) After a very stupid episode of me thinking that I had lost my air ticket, I'm actually back in Malaysia. It's hot, but I know I haven't yet experienced the worst. Coming from winter in Brisbane to Malaysia's everyday hot and rainy is a drastic change I'm gonna take a few days to adapt to.

Also, I've been feeling like a complete tub of lard here. In Australia, I always feel average, which is of course, normal. When I come back here, I feel like the scales are about to break if I step on them, my whole family manages to take swipes at me, including my 3 year old sis, and I actually feel like I shouldn't wear some of the stuff I wear in Brisbane.

But after 2 seconds of... umm.. 'careful' thought, fuck that. I like my spaghetti tops too much to let them go. And one of the main things I always look forward to about home is the food. Mmm.. give me oily, fatty char kueh teow any day over a garden salad with no dressing. :)

Just before I left Brissy, I was tagged by Ivan and Kristine here, but I was too tired to do it and I had to pack. Here it is, just as I promised. :)

4 jobs I would stink at:

A model (for obvious reasons)

An engineer (I easily failed Physics and suck at Math)

A doctor (I'm not good at any of the Sciences actually)

A political scientist (I think that if I get a credit for this subject, I'll be extremely thankful)

4 nicknames I'm making up for myself:

Alynna (yes, it's a nickname)

and that's all I can think of

4 movies I can watch over and over:

White Oleander; it's depressingly pretty-ful

The Matrix; it's the first cool movie that rocked everyone's socks off

Sepet; how much more Malaysian and romantic can you get?

Sliding Doors; there's something about romantic movies with English humour.

4 alcoholic beverages I enjoy from time to time:

Tequila. Screw the worm.

Vodka Cruisers - best girly drinks

Smirnoff, because any of their variants are gooddd

Whatever beer there is, preferably Hoegaarden or Stella

4 fantastic destinations I would like to go to on vacation before I pass out:

London - malt loafs and melting butter? Hell yes.

Hong Kong - shopping paradise

Melbourne, which will be beautiful once I turn 18. Oh yes. ;)

Singapore - the neighbour I haven't visited in yonks

4 things I would love to do on weekends:

Go out for coffee with friends like any coffeeholic

Watch a movie that doesn't piss me off

Read a good book

Swim and not care about anyone or anything whilst underwater

4 celebrities I would like to go on a big date with:

.... I'm actually stuck at this one. =.= X 10000

Adam Brody (THE Seth Cohen)

Benjamin McKenzie (of course, THE Ryan Atwood)

Tom Welling who sizzles in Smallville

Chad Michael Murray - I just threw him in cause he's hot. =P

See, the question is asking about celebrities, not everyday people. I'd rather the latter, really.

4 objects I could not live without:

My wallet - no $$$, no talk?

My cell phone (oh yeah, my number in Malaysia is +60173145184)

My clothes, because I don't like the idea of being arrested for indecent exposure

My laptop with all my favourite music

4 gadgets I do not have, which i would like to have:

Anything that beats the iPod video

Sony Vaio laptop (sleekkkkk)

Any camera that can own smashp0p's ;)

That sweet machine that prints the pounds. As in the currency.

4 "poor souls" tagged:

Averdim

Trinity

Sa-chan

Kyels

What I remember about last night.

So... last night...

Err... it was interesting. :P

Ryan's (not my housemate) in 3rd year and cause he's graduating this semester, Joanne, Michael and I had a Japanese dinner with him in the city. Also, I was too broke to afford steamboat with Mabel and the others. Lol. After the obligatory Starbucks (Joanne would've shot us if we refused to go there), Ryan was too tired so we left the city, and Joanne went off for a movie with her boyfriend.

Initially, I had cancelled out on Ali's party cause I thought that I'd probably be spending the entire night with them. Since there was a major change in our non-existent plans, I headed off to the party. Haha, first one to greet me was Caz, who quite strategically, was chatting on the balcony. Yay, I feel loved. :)

Whoa, there was a whole bunch of people I didn't expect plus a whole bunch of randoms. Though I eventually found out one of them wasn't even random; he was just one of my schoolmates who had grown in height and hair length.

=.= X 1000000

Well, I went there with a plan. Yes, a plan. The plan was 'I'm gonna get home by 12 am to pack and I don't give a shit if I don't sleep". I had with me my 2 Hoegaardens and 1 Smirnoff Double Black. That's all I was planning to drink, I swear. BUT within 10 minutes of getting there, I already had 2 tequilla shots and 1 Cowgirl shot.

Woohoo, did you see my plan which swum around in the toilet bowl for awhile and then disappeared into the sewerage? :P

I'll attempt to put last night into point form cause I can't think straight now. Alcohol's still swimming happily in the system.

Smile I think I spent the whole night just talking to people, drinking, laughing. That's good so I won't miss them while I'm home. Haha, just kidding, guys. :)

Wink While I was talking to.. umm.. someone, I don't remember who, Darryl tried hiking up my dress with his foot while he laid on the bed. That is, until I took hold of his foot and started giving him a 'foot massage'.

Hurmph I found out that I'm missing out on Death Cab For Cutie performing in July. Noooooo! I am going to hate myself for not agreeing to go to that gig with the guys earlier.

Shades Karen greeted me with a scream and a 'I know you said you didn't ever wanna see me drunk again so this might be a bad time!' Mmhmm!

Big Smile Everyone liked my dress! Lol, did I mention it was going for 5 dollars in the Gold Coast?

Surprise Tequilla tastes pretty shit without the lemon/lime. In fact, I had two shots without them and I felt like running off to hug the toilet bowl. Note to self and you guys: next time this happens, drink lots of water.

Shocked One more guy can testify to me being a bad kisser. I woke up in the morning on the sofa and literally, I couldn't remember his name. I'm trying hard to call what was the fricking dare that irked me that much.

Hurmph Ya know, when the font is smaller, it means 'don't read', not squint your eyes to the max. Hehehe.

Big Smile I met a guy last night who was impressed that I actually like beer. I know, I know, I still love my girly drinks but beer isn't too bad. Really.

Tongue There was a guy's belt under my pillow this morning and I was cracking up as I told Ali that I certainly did not go that far last night.

Shades I had 7 shots, a beer, two rum and colas, and I drank from a Cowboy bottle. I didn't barf and I'm not hung over this morning. Looks like if they really are planning to get me completely off my face on my 18th, they're gonna have to spend A LOT of money.

Smile A little note to Karen: love yourself more. I think you're a wonderful person. Heh, I didn't score Ellen's rather sexy, Hot with a capital H, half-Japanese guy (who really is more Aussie than anything), but then again, I've accepted that naturally, every straight guy will have the hots for Ellen. Whether or not he likes her is a completely different matter, hmm?

cry I forgot about my packing the entire night. I didn't end up catching the bus home, the regular service, or the one meant for drunkards and stoners in the middle of the night. I don't even remember how I ended up on the sofa.

Shocked I remember sitting there on the floor as the guys talked about sex. What the? Actually, I think I'm rather glad I don't recall the details.

Big Smile Every party venue should have a balcony. It's good to clear your head with some air, even with the smokers standing right next to you.

Hurmph Ryan (housemate) will be happy to know that he can have that 1 Hoegaarden and Smirnoff that I didn't finish last night. *grumble* :P

Smile Ali covered me with a blanket and when I woke up, I wanted to help to clean up but it was already done. I swear, what would we do without Ali and his parties?

Alright, I think that's enough coverage of the party. I'll update the drinking log later cause I'm really tired. I still need to pack. Argh! I can't believe I'm flying home tonight. Whatttt? Oh crap, I got tagged too. I forgot. Umm... when I get home, I'll do it! Promise, promise, promise. :)

Or maybe I'll do it when I'm procrastinating my packing.

I told you, stop reading the words in smaller font! *wink*

Meeting Mike and Mabel's birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BROTHER, BEN

AND MY COUSIN, MABEL!

Wink

I finally made it to uni at 11:50 pm and ran all the way to my cousin, Mabel's residential college. We lighted the candles, knocked on the door and when she opened it, we started singing happy birthday. Nineteen! :) The usual candle-blowing, cake cutting, distributing and eating.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

There was more of us there, but they had exams and turned in early. When I get those pictures, I'll post them up. :)

I slept over at their college, and only returned home this morning. We're going for steamboat tonight as well. Lol, so much for not celebrating, girl!

This one's for Ivan. *wink*

I also met up with Mike. We were scheduled to meet at Coffee Club by 2 pm, but by 2:20ish, I was about to fall asleep on the table (I've been sleep-deprived), so I smsed him and told me to sms me if he wasn't coming; otherwise, I'd see him soon. Five minutes later, he calls to tell me he has overslept. Lol, long story there, but we finally decided to meet up for dinner.

Digression: Before that, I rushed off to get Mabel and Yi Feng's (my lil bro's girl) presents and the birthday cake. My jeans and shoes got completely drenched due to Brisbane's dreadful continuous rain and me being dumb by.. umm.. 'washing' my jeans after spilling stuff on it. Don't ask. I decided that despite my buttoned coat to hide my jeans that were dropping to reveal almost everything due to its weight from the water, I couldn't take it anymore. So now, I've got a new miniskirt and slippers. I swear I didn't intend to spend more money! At least they're comfy. *grumble* :P

I walked to Hungry Jack's to meet Mike at 5 after picking up the cake. I didn't read his sms beforehand; therefore I had no clue that he was the guy in the 'black jumper and black cap'. Lol! Bet he thought I was ignoring him when I walked straight past him. Oops. :P He came up to me, introduced himself and we headed off to Starbucks to have a good chat.

What's weird about meeting Mike is I've only read less than 5 of his posts before this. I doubt if he's read any, lol. So random doesn't exactly cut it. Try stranger meeting stranger. Then Joanne called out to me. Explaining to her that this was the first time I've met Mike too was rather... complicated. Let's just say that we had a good laugh about this afterwards. I think this won't be the last time I'm meeting Mike around Brisbane. :) Bet we'll meet before the Merdeka celebration. Ivan, you're next! Haha. Maybe this time, we'll actually read each other's blogs before meeting up.

Oi, I was called a 'blog addict' last night. I can't decide if that's flattering, or an insult. I'd much rather think of it as.. uh.. a fact. Tee-hee.

No, I haven't packed. How? :( Someone do that funny thing Tonks did to pack Harry's trunk. I don't really care if my socks don't fold themselves!

Real estate's a headache

I've been hopping from one real estate agency to another. Is it me or do most of them have this 'lan si' (up themselves) look about them? Well, I'm glad not all of them are, 'cause I'm obviously serious about looking for a place. When I'm walking out the door of another real estate agency with a sealed deal, they're gonna wish they were nicer, more helpful, and had removed that pole stuck so far up their arse they had to use tongs to get them out earlier.

Now where was I? Yes, looking for a place.

The thing is, I've just realised that I might have a bit of a problem with signing the tenancy agreement because I'm still not legal yet. That means I'm gonna have to somehow pull my uncle in and make him sign in. I have nine properties to inspect by Saturday. I have to consider location, whether it is furnished, cost, etc. I need to somehow decide, and hand over the deposit before I leave, which by the way, is on Saturday night.

Reminder to self: It's impossible to leave without packing. Shit.

Alright, my blog's gonna be a bit quiet, I suppose. At least till I get home on Sunday morning. If it's not, that means I'm procrastinating my packing and someone ought to shoot me. In the meantime, if you haven't voted on the hair issue, please do so on my side panel. :) I reassure you that your vote counts. Lol, if you feel so strongly about one style, go and vote some more then. Though I've been told a pixie cut wouldn't suit me cause my face is long. Awww... it's true, but.. ISH!

A final letter before I go:

Dear Ah Mike,

I hope when you meet me tomorrow, you're not expecting a typically skinny, soft-spoken Asian chick who eats half a bowl of rice. I stopped being skinny six years ago, I was never soft-spoken (Trinity, you can testify), and I don't remember the last time I ate half a bowl of rice. Well, maybe I have done so, after finishing one or two.

It's never too late to sms me to cancel. And I won't hold a grudge or even get the slightest bit mad. :)

Cheers,

Alynna

2 cents wanted. Dollars accepted.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I know you guys wanna help me out, right? Pretty please with cherries on top? ;) Vote on my side panel what I should do with my hair! I'm kinda stuck. I've never had my hair this long and it's growing on me (well, literally, and not so literally) cause I've always wanted to have long hair, but it's very hard to manage. I have really thin hair and they get tangled very easily.

Perming/colouring is out of the question, unless I want to be disowned. Straightening would be the stupidest move ever because like I said, thin hair. Since last year, I've wanted to go short as well. Talk about indecisive, hey? Well, I have this habit which is always regretting cutting my hair after it's done. EVERY time. So at least this time, I'll know what you guys think would look decent and I won't blame you guys for it cause in the end, it's my decision to make. :)

If you have a brighter idea on what I should do, leave a comment on this post. If you're a Photoshop junkie and have time to fix up pictures of me with the various hairstyles, yay! Leave a comment as well! I'd really appreciate it. :) Wow, if only every hairdresser offers this!

Well, what are you waiting for? :) Vote, vote!
