Oops, there goes the one I hid...
Tonight's been a weird night...

It calls for that Vodka Cruiser in my cupboard. I don't give a shit that it's not cold.

Yum yum post!
My internet's been capped and I'm pissed off. But anyway, I got a new phone today! WOOT!!

Say hello to my Nokia 6111. Black, because I had no choice, but oh fucking well. :D Sure beats my old Nokia 3200, but I have to say that was a reliable phone. I mean, heck, it's still in one piece after me abusing it for 2 years. HAH!

I had the best hot chocolate last night at La Dolce Vita cafe. The stuff you normally get from supermarkets are drinking chocolate but this ought to be classified as EATING chocolate cause it's exactly that. You can't pick the cup up to gulp it down, you gotta spoon it into your mouth! Italian hot chocolate, yum.

Sorry, I had half before I realised I hadn't taken a picture of it, hehe..

Moving along now, I have updated the drinking log (again) because there was a party at Ali's house on Friday night and I played bartender. Trust me, I'm not the best person to do it, but it was an easy task, since we didn't exactly have a bar full of drinks and there's only so much that would go together. There was Absolut Mandrin, Galliano Sambuca, Bundaberg Rum, Kilkenny's and Father O'Leary's, with a whole bunch of soft drink, lemon and milk around. I stole the fruit juice from the fridge too.

Piece of cake, guys. I'm sure if you just read the bottles, did a little bit of tasting, you'd figure it out.

If you're not the sort to guzzle down a whole bottle of vodka, well, that's not what I meant by tasting, duh. Less than half a shot is enough for your tastebuds to work it and decide what would go well together, unless your intention is to get drunk lah. Absolut Mandrin has a really strong taste that leaves the fruity flavour tingling a little, so obviously fruit = fruit. Mix it with lemonade or fruit juice. A little lemon juice would go well too. You don't need half the glass filled with vodka to taste it, okay?

Galliano Sambuca tastes like liquorice. There's no way to describe it, so you gotta taste it yourself. I can tell you that it's sweet. I didn't like the idea of liquorice + lemonade, so liquorice with coke (not the drug, you fool). A slice of lemon might have been okay? Sambuca's pretty good by itself; quite a few of them last night were just content with having the shots.

Rum and Cola. The easiest mix ever. Anyone can do it blindfolded.

Kilkenny's was the coffee and chocolate. Sounds yummy? Mix it with milk. A bit like mocha, infused with alcohol, of course. Maybe reminiscent of Kahlua. Father O'Leary's is butterscoth and cream. For a Cowboy, mix Kilkenny's with Father O'Leary's in a shotglass. Alternatively, Kilkenny's + Father O'Leary's + milk = you have a Mudshake, but probably a little stronger. Depends on whether you decide on a shot each or a mixture of both in one shotglass. Or however much rocks your boat.

Crown Lager, Australia's best, tasted alright to me. Well, I'm not the biggest beer fan. I'd still love to try Hoegaarden and Stella Artois, but I think that's gonna have to wait till November.

Till next time, happy mixing, lovelies. ;)

Reviews: V for Vendetta & Match Point
I went with THE boy* to catch V for Vendetta last Sunday and it was amazing. I love movies where people unite. Like.. Musketeers. Actually, swords are a big love too. There's something so undoubtedly cool about them. Think Zorro. One of my favourite movies. I don't care that the storyline's cliche; I can honestly watch that movie over and over again. I've lost count of the number of times I've watched it, actually.

Sorry, I digressed.

V for Vendetta stars Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith from the Matrix) and Natalie Portman (Star Wars, Closer). Hugo Weaving has such a distinct voice. It doesn't matter that I didn't know he was in it before I stepped into the cinema, or that you don't ever see his face throughout the movie, the voice is a giveaway. As for Natalie Portman... well, everyone knew she cut her hair for this movie. How does someone have such short hair yet be so... feminine anyway? I wanna know!

V is a man wronged, and out for revenge, as well as justice. The government is in control of anything and everything and the people who defy it don't have happy endings. V sets out to make everyone realise that they are giving in to a government that needs to be overthrown, starting with Natalie Portman's character, Evey. Due to her past, Evey tried to become a nobody that minds her own business but obviously gets thrown into the midst of it all (doh). She finds the courage in herself that she never knew existed to join V.

The most memorable line in the movie: 'The people should not be afraid of their government, the government should be afraid of its people'

Something along those lines. :)

Anyway, this movie gets 8/10 stars.

Today, I finally caught 'Match Point' with Dom. Brian Cox (no idea), Matthew Goode  (Chasing Liberty, Imagine Me & You) and Scarlett Johansson (need you ask? :P). To summarise the movie, 'it's a slightly twisted, erotic, whatcha-gonna-do drama that sets out to describe the difference between love and naked lust'. Well, actually, I could be wrong about the love part; I hardly saw it throughout the movie. Watch it and put it in your own words.

I found no romance, which was what I initially thought it'd be full of. Well, it had enough sex, lol. Mostly, it made me go OMG or WTF. But don't let that put you off. I think the beginning part of the movie and the way they incorporated the opera music was ingenious. Dom thought it was a little reminiscent of Closer, and I agree with her. This movie ought to make more Scarlett Johansson fans worldwide, considering that woman might as well have 'sexy' plastered all over her forehead. Yes, I'm envious.

6 3/4/10 stars. Sorry, 6 1/2 doesn't do it justice, and 7's a bit too much. Tee-hee.

P/S: It's obvious I'm not a great movie reviewer, so if you want better, more comprehensive reviews, head over to Swifty's. I know he reviewed these two. Watch the slobber; I remember him absolutely drooling over Scarlett Johansson. ;)

The first
I gave a hesitant 'um.. okay' reply after THE boy* detailed how he checked his phone ever so often for something, anything from me. He asked if I was weirded out, and I replied no, just that I had nothing to say.

What I really wanted to say was that... that it hit me. Really, really hit me.

He's the first. The first who feels more for me than I feel for him...

Kill me the day I say that it's over... Even if I'm the one who wants it, I'll make him say the words.

I don't think I could live with the guilt...

Review: Louise Bagshawe's Monday's Child
I've just finished reading Louise Bagshawe's Monday's Child (Headline Book Publishing, 2004), and I love it to bits! Anna Brown, central character, is someone who's easy to love. She's gorgeous, but has no idea she is. Her idea of dressing up is an apparel that will cause no one to glance at her twice. All because of previous horrid experiences, her life is shadowed.

And then she slowly begins to discover her talent and worth. Her friends help her realise her full potential and her beauty becomes obvious. She has always known so much about making people feel good about themselves, but she finally learns that she can feel good about herself too. Sounds cliche, doesn't it? The author is all the difference.

Bagshawe injects a lot of humour into her book, and makes the situation less cliched, more unpredictable, and you flip the pages so fast, your eyes hurt. You just want to keep going and going. I love that the main male character isn't the obliging pushover, a real softie on the inside. Most of all, it makes me wish even more fervently that I'm in London.

I really love it when people write that everyone can change for the better, both inside and outside, simply because it's inspiring. Books like these seem silly but they change people's lives. They instil confidence. They make you believe in yourself and hope for the better. And I especially love happy endings. One man for one woman. Finding that love. Whatever the heck they try to feed me that I eagerly lap up. What can I say, I'm a sucker for anything romantic. :)

It says 11 pounds on the back of the book, but I got it for 8 Aussie bucks.

Sweet 18th, lovely.

You listen not only to what I say, but what I don't... Thanks for listening all this time.

The darling that is Averdim turns 18 today and will remain so for another year.
The last time I wrote about him was here.

You're now known as the weirdo who didn't wanna turn 18.
But think of bumping into people like KinkyBlueFairy at mad places like Zouk and Velvet and SMILE! Remember to get an autograph, don't be too busy gawking. ;)

Thanks for the best times with you, Trina and Tim. *hugs*

Happy birthday.

P/S: His birthday really is on the 10th, my post is just late. But I'm on time by 10 minutes Malaysian time! :)
